1. Who we are
Budget Crab Money Tracker is an iOS personal finance application developed and operated independently by Dmitry Logachev. References to "we", "us", or "the app" in this policy mean Budget Crab Money Tracker.
2. What information the app handles
2.1 Information you enter
You can record financial transactions, categories, accounts, merchants, notes, and similar data. This information is stored locally in the iOS application container on your iPhone. It is protected by iOS Data Protection (NSFileProtectionComplete), which ties decryption to your device passcode.
2.2 Information the app does not collect
- The app does not collect your name, email address, phone number, or postal address.
- The app does not access your contacts, location, photos, health data, browsing history, or search history outside the app.
- The app does not use advertising identifiers (IDFA) or vendor identifiers for tracking.
- The app does not connect to your bank, financial institution, or any third-party financial data aggregator.
- The app does not transmit your transactions, balances, categories, or notes to any server we operate.
2.3 On-device speech recognition
If you use the optional voice entry feature, your speech is processed on-device using Apple's Speech framework with the requiresOnDeviceRecognition setting enforced. Audio is not sent to Apple servers and is not transmitted off your device. Audio buffers exist only in memory during a single dictation and are never written to disk.
2.4 Optional file imports you initiate
If you import a CSV file through the system file picker, the file is processed locally on your iPhone. The app does not transmit imported files anywhere.
3. Purchases and subscriptions
The app offers optional Premium features through in-app purchases handled exclusively by Apple's StoreKit. When you purchase a subscription or a one-time purchase:
- Apple processes the payment. We do not receive your card number, billing address, or other payment instrument data.
- The app queries Apple's StoreKit to verify your active entitlements. This query happens on your device and uses Apple-managed infrastructure.
- We do not log, store, export, or share your transaction identifiers, original transaction identifiers, trial status, or expiration dates anywhere off your device.
For information about Apple's handling of purchase data, see Apple's Privacy Policy.
4. Analytics, crash reporting, and tracking
The app does not integrate any third-party analytics, crash reporting, advertising, or attribution SDK. We do not operate a custom analytics or crash reporting system of our own.
If you have opted in to Apple's "Share With App Developers" setting on your iPhone, Apple may share aggregated, anonymized crash and performance data with us through App Store Connect. This sharing is controlled by your iPhone settings, not by the app.
5. Backups and sync
If you have iCloud Backup enabled in your iPhone settings, your iPhone may back up the app's local data as part of your overall device backup. This is handled by Apple under your control. The app does not implement its own cloud sync or backup feature in version 1.0.
6. Children
The app is not directed to children under 13 years of age and does not knowingly collect any information from children. The age rating in the App Store reflects this.
7. Your control over your data
- You can delete individual transactions, categories, accounts, or merchants at any time from within the app.
- You can erase all app data by deleting the app from your iPhone. Because all data is stored locally, deleting the app removes the data.
- The app supports CSV export so you can carry your data out of the app at any time.
8. Contact
If you have questions about this Privacy Policy or about how the app handles your information, please contact:
If you contact us by email, we receive the information you choose to send. We use email only to respond to your question and do not add it to a marketing list.
9. Changes to this policy
If we update this Privacy Policy, the "Last updated" date at the top will change. Material changes will be highlighted at the top of this page for at least 30 days. Continued use of the app after a change indicates acceptance of the updated policy.
10. Governing law
This Privacy Policy is provided as a statement of the app's behavior and our handling of any information shared with us. Where local privacy laws apply (including GDPR for residents of the European Union, UK GDPR, CCPA for residents of California, and similar frameworks), you retain the rights granted by those laws. To exercise any such rights, contact us at the email above.
